when youre too homey with the place you tend to bring in your habits to something that makes its familarity reminiscent. an example of a habit at home is not wearing flipflops. when you get your feet off your flipflops and touch the wood or coldness of whats under your feet, it reminds you of home, you tend to forget youre in a public place sometimes. good thing its just flipflops. she did return for it, after stepping them bare feet outside the sand im guessing.
